Starting over and enjoying the ride...

Okay so here we are at stage one of the dating scene.  This time around I've decided to do something a little different than I usually do.  See I am a serial relationship gal... meaning I move from one relationship to the next.  The only break I take is the so-called "rebound guy" who I tend to date at the end of a relationship until the beginning of the new one.  I'm not doing that this time around.  Why you ask? The answer is simple when you realize you have a bad habit you work to change it.  So I'm taking a little time to enjoy life... and dating. Yes dating... non-committed dating.  No this doesn't mean I'm going to be slutting around sexing every man in town.  What it means is that I'm not going to tie myself to one guy trying to figure out if he is the one I want to be in my space.  It means I'm going to go out, have some fun, hang around new people and see if... KEY WORD IN THE SENTENCE IS "IF"... we are compatible.  If we are I may see him a few more times.

I've recently read an article that talks about the type of men you should date before you settle.   I thought about it and at 31 I've thought I've been there done that... but really have I.  Not really, in my hopping from serious relationship to serious relationship... I haven't really taken the time to see what these guys were all about. So maybe I'll check out each guy.  Why the hell not?  This may be crazy but it damn sure will be fun to do. I say as I give a devious smile. HAHAHA

The guys are:
 1. The guy who is not that cool
2. The one you've rejected a hundred times
3. The loyal friend
4. The guy from a different race or culture
5. The young entrepreneur
6. The one who is too young or too old
7. The single dad who wants love
8. The man your friend (or mother) keeps trying to set you up with
9. The male version of you
10. The guy who's not your type

I'm going to have to be real some of this is going to be hard to write since 1) I am putting all of my business on front street and 2) Some of the scenes have already ended and run their course so I'm actually writing about them in hindsight. 3)Some of these situations are also combined... IE: The guy who is not that cool also happens to be of a different race/culture... or the loyal friend who I've rejected a hundred times... You get the drift...

$350,000 to do what?

There is a proposal on the table right now to put 3 large letters at Michell International Airport. Should the proposal go through "MKE" will be at the airports entrance. If approved it would be constructed next year and cost around $350,000. The Milwaukee County Transportation, Public Works and Transit Committee are considering the ides.

Seriously... Seriously.... I can't. Really? What the hell? $350 THOUSAND DOLLARS! For some damn letters. You have got to be kidding me. I really don't understand how Milwaukee can spend so much money on Bullshit like 3 got damn letters.

There are so many other things that could use that money. Like how about a training/educational program to help put black men in Milwaukee back to work. Considering more than 50 percent of ALL African American men in Milwaukee ages 16-64 are UNEMPLOYED. Its just a thought.
How about funneling some of that money to help bring down the infant mortality rate here in the city? Since it disproportionally affects minority kids more so than whites I doubt that will ever happen. Seriously... 1 out of 59 babies in the city of Milwaukee. That's the rate of some 3rd world countries. We're not even going to talk about the co-sleeping deaths that seem to happen every week. How about we take that money and buy people real cribs. Or hell put people into some of these foreclosed homes that are becoming a nuisance in our poor city. I could go in on the foreclosure problem in the city, but I'm going to let that go for another blog post...
$350-THOUSAND DOLLARS... SERIOUSLY PEOPLE? Get it together.

31 Day Reset ... the whole way through this time!!!

Dear Future Tisiphani,

Its been a hard road but you are living proof that God is able. You're working hard to turn things around and be the woman God wants you to be, but you still have some work to do. So pray and keep it moving.
You are a good person who loves to be involved in worthy causes, and taking care of others is your passion. You love your family and friends and spending time with them is the highlight of your day. Its beautiful that you are taking out more time to just enjoy the people you love without a reason, just doing it because it makes you happy.
At work things aren't perfect the what is. you've found a way to let your guard down and once again enjoy what you do. That is something to be proud of so smile and remind yourself of that everyday. This is what you planned to be doing and you only have the sky as your limit. Check you out finally going back to school for your master's. You've been saying it for years and here you are making it happen. What happened to the excuses? You know what where ever they are leave them there. Think of how proud Tigger will be when he sees you in your cap and gown crossing the stage.
You make good money and its about time you start being more responsible with it. Think about all the vacations you're planning. This is what you've been waiting for. The budget is the perfect step to obtaining the financial freedom you want. Keep your hand out of those savings... you're doing well -- no extra shopping.
Girl look at you getting all sexy, you finally got back into the gym. That month off had to be hard, but you turned that slump around. Keep it up. Those meal plans are helping you keep it sexy and who knew it would help you keep extra cash in your pocket. Planning meals and knowing what you're going to buy when you get there... and keeping out of the store when you're hungry saves dollars.
Your baby is getting ready for kindergarten. He's really growing up. I know you have to say it often... Patience, Patience, Patience. It seems to be working. He's your world and you make sure he knows it EVERYDAY. That's love and kids need that more that anything else. You are a good mom... and don't ever forget that.

God is good, all the time.
And all the time, God is good.

31 Day Reset ... the whole way through this time!!!

Step 1: Day1
"Choose a Reset Notebook"
The first thing to do in the 31 day Reset requires me to pick a notebook that will be dedicated to the excercises over the next 31 days. I try to be an avid journalist and write everyday but with a toddler this has become difficult. So I have plenty of them laying around. But this 31 Day Reset is special so I bought a new one... Plus it was pretty. Step one... CHECK

Step 2: On day 1
"Choose a personal mantra"
Now this process was a little more difficult than the first step. It required me to do a lot of thinking. I went back and forth scouring websites, reading my Bible, checking the Concordance for things that related to me. Then I was tired of it and had errands to run. As I'm on my errand I decided to read a magazine (and pretend the loud toddler scooting around the room wasn't related to me) and that's when I found it. My mantra. The magazine was pretty old and not one that I would normally read. It was Home & Style or something similar to it. The top of the page read "need to know/COOL NEW STUFF". So I want to know okay what the hell do these crazy azz strangers think I need to know? Try these on for size... "toning shoes are hot but toning apparel is hotter." "If celery and black licorice were to hook up and have a baby, they might name her fennel." I could bring my sexy back in 4 weeks if I read "The Official Booty Parlor Mojo Makeover" Yeah I was already about to give up on this magazine and go on searching for my mantra in the Bible when I say a picture of Dr. Suess in the corner of the page...

It read"Instant Inspiration"... this had to be interesting right?

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"
-Dr. Seuss

WOW!!! There it is, my mantra. It was from Dr. Seuss, yes the childhood author had just summed up what what I had been researching for days. I'm done looking.

By the way...
"This cat wears a hat-and doesn't care what you think about that!"

Step 3: Day 1
Choose a Theme Song
"I'm Smile" Kirk Franklin
This was an easy choice for me since when I hear this song it seriously brings me to tears every time I hear it. Not of sadness but of joy, like a relief that no matter what is going on in my life God will bring the sunshine.

Added Step 4: Day 1
Choose a key verse
2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
